Merry Christmas from SIB Visions

Christmas is, for most people, a time of traditions. And also a time for good food. We know that Christmas dinner traditions typically involve having your family seated at a large table at home with the presents under the candle-lit tree, but there are also some that are a little more out of the ordinary. Did you know that:

  • In Japan instead of having traditional dinner, families head out to their local Kentucky Fried Chicken.
  • Families in Finland eat a porridge made of rice and milk and whoever finds the almond placed inside one of the puddings “wins”.
  • In New Zealand, Christmas takes place in peak summer, so people center around the barbie, for a BBQ of fresh seafood, meat, and seasonal vegetables and sing carols in both English and Maori.

The holidays are also a time for reflection. Another year has passed, and the final days of 2021 invite us to look back at how many companies also decided to step out of the ordinary: Again, we saw a focus on digitalization initiatives, finally replacing burdensome, outdated business processes with modern tools that can be used anywhere and that make business users happier and more efficient.

In the new year 2022, we expect digitalization to further advance in almost all industries, allowing companies to benefit from modern technology.

For our company there is also no end in sight: As of January, we are expanding our existing office, doubling its size to 500m2. This will give us enough space to welcome many new employees; three of them are already set to start in early 2022.

So while we look back on traditions, keep in mind: just because “we’ve always done it this way” doesn’t mean that it has to be this way forever. Some traditions might be best left to the past, as they only do you harm, whether it’s eating yourself into a food coma or relying on Excel and paper to run your business. Let this be our inspiration to you, at home and at work, for maybe doing things a little bit different next year!
